This cassette was produced at the time when Martin left and Dave joined. It has tracks with both drummers on and was the first good quality release we made. At the Luton Uni gig (supporting 'Senser') we shifted over eighty of these. Our cassette duplication empire was just beginning. The two tracks with Martin drumming (Spirit of Opening & You're Not Yourself) were recorded at Kingston Poly's 24 track studio, as part of Jasons acoustics course! The remaining four were recorded with great care at 81 London Road using a six track. We had to mix down between 2 am and 6 am otherwise taxi transmissions would come out in the mix! |

There was a Kingston version of 'Dead Fire' but everyone agreed it was a bit rushed, so we re-recorded the whole track at 81. I have to admit that for anyone else not in the band that lived there; well done, extraordinary tolerance, thanks. Only Dan drove in the band, so at that time we were heavily reliant on the faith & good will of our 4x10 posse. Without them there would have been no gigs as a van was financially beyond our reach. All of you with the helpful hatchbacks, thanks again for your help. |
